Root Power Battery Storage - Hogshaw Road
This application has been withdrawn
Oppose the latest BESS proposal
We’re facing yet another proposal from a so-called "green energy" company. This time, Root Power is proposing to install a 99 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) south of Hogshaw Road, Granborough.
While this is a smaller development, its approval could set a precedent, opening the door for other BESS and Solar Farm projects currently in the pipeline.
Below are suggestions for submitting objections to the Planning Portal regarding this planning application.
TAKE ACTION NOW!
We are asking if you could register your objections - scroll down to see how. Numbers really do matter - our collective effort helped ensure the Statera BESS application was refused last December, and we need to achieve the same result with this Hogshaw Road proposal.
DEADLINE - Wednesday 12th February 2025, 11.59pm
Objections must be sent in via the website by midnight, Wednesday 12th February. If you have problems accessing the site please email Buckinghamshire Council using this email address: devcontrol.av@buckinghamshire.gov.uk. If you use this method please make sure you add the Planning Application number as 24/03262/APP so that your comments can be registered accordingly. We also ask if you could send us a copy info@claydonssolaractiongroup.co.uk so we can keep a record of people objecting.
We simply must not let this continue. To send your objection please click on the link below:

Key points & reasons to comment
To support responses to Buckinghamshire Council regarding the planning application, a summary of findings has been presented by Granborough and East Claydon Parish Councils.
We know many people have busy lives so in addition, the following summaries and a template letter (to download) are intended to help residents write their comments to Buckinghamshire Council. Please use your own words and feel free to add your own comments.
Summary of suggestions
- The application is incomplete – insufficient information has been provided.
- There was no community engagement before the application was put into Buckinghamshire Council.
- No grid connection date has been given by the National Grid at this time.
- The proposed route for the construction traffic and fire crew, etc, being along a small single-track with very few passing bays, makes this unacceptable.
- No cable routes have been defined to establish the route from BESS to the substation.
- The proposed working hours 7am-7pm Monday-Friday and 8am-1pm Saturdays are unacceptable.
- The noise emitting from both the work being carried out and the inverters once operational will be highly intrusive.
- No information has been given regarding soil management.
- There is a clear risk of flooding and land contamination on the site which needs to be addressed.
- The spacing and layout of the units do not appear to meet accepted standards.
- The danger to the local communities through the possibility of fire/contamination/toxic fumes would be too significant to ignore.
- Any BESS units would significantly impact the visual effects of many viewpoints across our region – no amount of ‘mitigation’ would change this.
- The ‘get out’ clause for making the site permanent by the phrase ‘unless further permission is sought’ is completely unacceptable.
- The cumulative effect from HS2, East/West Rail, an incinerator, a prison, a new, refurbished substation, Statera BESS (refused December 2025 - with six months to appeal), and other so-called ‘net zero’ projects adding to this, being Solar farms – Tuckey Farm, Wings Farm and Rosefield Solar Farm, will industrialise our communities beyond recognition.
- Our roads cannot take any more traffic/destruction.
