As part of our ongoing fight against the Rosefield proposal, Jamie and I had a trip to the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday 10th March. Through an opportunity that was made available to us, courtesy of the STOP Lime Down Solar Group (another 2,220 acre solar farm application located in the Cotswolds), we were invited to take part in a round-table discussion on the industrial-scale solar farms being rolled out across the UK.
We were joined by 10 MPs, including the ever-supportive Mr Greg Smith MP, and 15 representatives from other NSIP solar campaign groups from across the UK. We had a great discussion, led by Solar Q – a science led campaign group querying the role of solar in the UK energy mix.
There were two presentations followed by question and answers from around the room. One of the questions invited responses to the topic of putting a halt to these industrial scale solar schemes until such time as there is a clear plan around the roll out of green energy across the UK. All were in favour of this.
To be having these conversations within the Houses of Parliament is a great step forward for all the NSIP campaign groups. We hope to update you further as this group gains momentum and our voices start to get heard in the corridors of power.
