What was promised as a beacon of green progress has become, for many locals, a living nightmare. The construction of the Cleve Hill solar plant in Kent – the UK’s first “Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project” solar facility, has left residents surrounded by dust, mud, and relentless noise. For over two years, heavy HGV traffic shook homes, footpaths were blocked, and the peace of the countryside was shattered. Today, the community continues to grapple with the scars left behind: cracked walls, vanished wildlife, and broken promises of environmental restoration and community benefit.
As plans for the Rosefield Solar Farm move forward, local people fear this grim experience could soon be repeated. Without meaningful safeguards and accountability, the “nightmare” of Cleve Hill could become the new reality for our rural community if we don’t stop the proposal!
